And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Souza!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza tries to clinch but Picard moves out of range.
Picard cracks Souza with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Souza is defended easily by Picard.
Picard sends Souza crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Picard is motioning to the referee to let Souza up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
It looks like Hector Souza has been cut.
Picard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Souza circles away quickly and effectively.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Souza gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Picard counters with a nice uppercut.
Picard is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Souza flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Souza is out cold! Picard holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Boniface Picard!
