Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Wong (ranked 3582 p4p, 2257 weight class) and Ariki Aperahama (ranked 371 p4p, 267 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Wong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ariki Aperahama! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Ben Watson.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aperahama misses with a looping right. Wong doesn't succeed with the takedown and Aperahama counters with a straight right hand. Wong blocks a jab. Wong walks into a left hand. Horrible takedown attempt by Wong or perhaps it was just good defense by Aperahama, which made it look bad. A countering left hand to the body from Aperahama misses. Aperahama thuds a left hand into Wong's body. Wong fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Wong. That's going to take a lot out of him. Horrible takedown attempt by Wong or perhaps it was just good defense by Aperahama, which made it look bad. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wong tries for a takedown but Aperahama circles away easily and Aperahama counters with a lovely shot to the body. Wong with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Aperahama to score with a decent uppercut. Aperahama lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.  That's one minute gone in the round. Wong dives in and grabs Aperahama's left leg, looking for a takedown. Aperahama pushes down on Wong's head and hops out. Aperahama bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wong's head backwards. Wong looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Aperahama thuds a left hand into Wong's body. Aperahama lands a jab to Wong's midsection. Aperahama's coach down at Lost in Sauce was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Aperahama's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Wong on the wrong end of a nice jab. Aperahama stuns Wong with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. James Wong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Aperahama scores with a nice head shot. Wong gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Aperahama cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
 Wong is rocked! Wong walks into a left hand. Oh Wong is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Aperahama is not content to let Wong control the position. Wong seems to have got his legs back now. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wong lands a nice short elbow. Aperahama wants to get back to his feet. Wong working Aperahama over with strikes. Wong trying to control from half guard but Aperahama is working away. Aperahama is in trouble now - Wong has advanced to mount! Wong landing strikes, looking to finish! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wong cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wong avoids the attempt from Aperahama to control. Wong controlling the pace for now. Wong raining down shots from the mount!

Aperahama takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Wong working away from the top, dropping strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wong lands a big elbow. Wong sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Aperahama is trying desperately to improve position. Wong connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That was a close round but I would say that James Wong will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Wong goes for a double leg but Aperahama avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Aperahama continues to drive forward. Wong pushes down on Aperahama's leg and manages to get into half guard. Wong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground.
