Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pallas Anttonen (ranked 617 p4p, 1115 weight class) and Janne Varis (ranked 85 p4p, 145 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Janne Varis was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pallas Anttonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Janne Varis!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anttonen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Varis was well out of range. Poor timing from Anttonen.
Anttonen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Varis tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Anttonen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

and Varis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Varis sizes up Anttonen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Anttonen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Anttonen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Varis cracks Anttonen with an open hand slap.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Anttonen clinches up with Varis and pushes him back against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Anttonen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Anttonen is fighting off a takedown attempt but Varis is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Anttonen to the mat. Anttonen regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Varis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Anttonen swivels and escapes.
Anttonen fires out a quick counter leg kick but Varis just manages to avoid it.
Varis throws a nice looking combination but Anttonen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Varis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Varis is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Anttonen had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Varis avoids the head kick by Anttonen.
And Varis tries to counter it with a takedown but Anttonen pushes his down on his head and steps out.

A little jabbing left from Varis on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice straight punches there by Varis. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Varis.

and Varis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

We've been told by Anttonen's head coaches at FF Forever that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Varis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Varis moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Janne Varis will probably get the nod.
That's time! Anttonen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Varis changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Varis might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Anttonen is pressed up against the cage. Varis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Anttonen down to the mat. Anttonen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Anttonen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Varis.
The crowd cheers as Varis lands an impressive looking overhand right. Anttonen doesn't seem phased though.
Anttonen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Varis's hands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Varis scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Varis has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
A looping hook to the body misses from Varis. Anttonen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Anttonen appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Varis gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

and Anttonen counters with a nice kick to the body.

The fighters circle, before Anttonen throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Varis's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Anttonen lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

An out of breath Pallas Anttonen thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
