PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bino Hino (ranked 4443 p4p, 3997 weight class) and Hugo Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bino Hino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugo Brennan!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brennan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Brennan tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Nice strikes from Brennan there.
Hino is looking to improve his position.
Hino trying to control from the bottom.
Brennan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hino trying to control here.
Brennan tries to stand and escape but Hino actually recovers to full guard.
Brennan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brennan won't allow Hino to get back to his feet.
Hino is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Brennan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hino is on top in guard.

Hino slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Brennan has momentary wrist control but Hino slips an elbow through the middle.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brennan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Brennan looking for a sweep. Not yet Brennan, not yet.
Brennan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hino's guard.

Hino looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brennan is one step ahead there.

Brennan looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hino is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hino is looking for a triangle but Brennan pushes his legs off easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Brennan tries to stand but Hino is controlling from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hino is looking to clinch but Brennan is avoiding it.
Hino shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brennan as he jumps to the side.
Brennan throws a lazy head kick

and Hino counters by moving into the clinch.

Hino jumps guard and drags Brennan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Brennan distracts Hino with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close round but Hugo Brennan will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Hino slips a jab and a cross from Brennan.
Hino shoots in for a double leg but Brennan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Brennan changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Brennan scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Brennan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hino won't allow Brennan to pass to mount.

Brennan lands a couple of good shots and Hino has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Brennan is looking for the choke from the back position but Hino is controlling his hands well.

Hino rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Hino really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Brennan is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Hino manages to get to full guard.

Hino has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Brennan has passed into side control.

Brennan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hino has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hino is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Brennan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Brennan tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hino.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brennan prevents Hino from standing back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hino is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hino wants to get back to his feet.
Brennan works his way into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hino can't do much from the bottom here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hugo Brennan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Brennan doesn't manage to clinch there - Hino circles away.
Hino throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hino's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hino duly obliges.
Brennan wants to clinch
and Hino counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Brennan swats away the attempt to clinch by Hino.
Brennan keeps the fight on the outside.

Brennan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hino is wriggling around but Brennan manages to pass to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.


Brennan stands up out of the half guard.
Nice sprawl there from Brennan as Hino shoots in.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hino misses with a takedown

and Brennan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hino's guard.
Brennan stands up over Hino, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Brennan advances to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Brennan lands a nice short elbow.

Brennan is working for a submission of some sort.
Brennan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hino knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brennan is controlling the pace.
Brennan is looking to take a break and control but Hino is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hino is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brennan is thwarting Hino's attempts to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brennan wants to free his trapped foot but Hino is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Brennan keeps trying to improve his position.
Hino is trying to stand.

Brennan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hino is just riding it out for now. Brennan eventually gives up the hold.
Hino tries to roll over but Brennan keeps him under control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
No luck for Hino with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bino Hino. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brennan throws a leg kick but Hino sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Hino misses with a kick to the body.
Brennan stuffs the takedown.
Brennan is looking for the big counter here.
Brennan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hino dodges the punch combination from Brennan.
Bino Hino has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hugo Brennan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hino looks to land a right hand but Brennan moved out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hugo Brennan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Brennan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
