Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between George Pierre (ranked 3046 p4p, 1999 weight class) and Hiroshi Gomi (ranked 228 p4p, 164 weight class). Pierre's entrance music is O Canada. A fine choice. Gomi is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Wasureranneyo- Yakan Hikou. Hiroshi Gomi will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 23 - 1, fighting out of New York, George Pierre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hiroshi Gomi!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre misses the jab.
Gomi lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Pierre gets the takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pierre is putting a hurting on Gomi here, landing some big shots from side control.
Gomi is pushing Pierre's head away, looking to escape. Pierre manages to hold on to the position though.
Pierre creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Pierre working the body and head with strikes.
Gomi sneaks out the side door and pushes Pierre away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pierre throws an overhand right that lands on Gomi's shoulder, as Gomi tries to avoid the shot.
Pierre's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gomi connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pierre scrambles back to his feet.
Pierre tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gomi defends well and Pierre ends up having to push Gomi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pierre tries for a takedown. No joy.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pierre.
Gomi blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Pierre lands an uppercut.
Pierre drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gomi gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Pierre. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pierre scores with a shoulder strike.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomi gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Pierre.
Pierre working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Gomi breaks the clinch.
Pierre throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gomi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
George Pierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheers as Pierre lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gomi doesn't seem phased though.
Pierre fails with the takedown
and Gomi counters with a left and a right that stings Pierre.
Gomi cracks Pierre with a good jab.
Pierre cracks Gomi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Gomi scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like George Pierre has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pierre has his takedown stuffed
and Gomi counters with a nice body shot.
Pierre is breathing heavily.
Pierre throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gomi sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gomi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pierre shoots in for a double leg but Gomi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pierre misses with the combination.
Gomi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Pierre takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Gomi lands a glancing blow to the side of Pierre's head.
A cross from Gomi lands.
Gomi takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gomi lands a nice looking body shot.
Pierre throws an off balance right hand
and Gomi counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gomi works over Pierre's head and body with a nice combination.
Pierre is rocked!
Gomi scores with the left hand. Pierre knows he should have avoided that one.
Oh Pierre is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gomi punishes Pierre's body with a nice straight punch.
Gomi drops Pierre with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Pierre looks back up at him and smiles so Gomi waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Gomi lands a big right hook! Pierre looks hurt but is still standing! Gomi lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Pierre falls down and Gomi dives in with a huge hammer fist! Pierre's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Gomi runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Hiroshi Gomi!
A relieved looking Hiroshi Gomi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
