This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 58 wins and 55 losses; Richard Anderson! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 108 wins and 63 losses; Abu Schaubi! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Anderson closes the distance and pushes Schaubi back into the cage. Anderson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Schaubi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Anderson can't get the takedown.
Schaubi gets control of Anderson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Schaubi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Anderson won't allow Schaubi to sweep him here. Anderson wants to control from the top but Schaubi keeps moving. Schaubi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Let's hope that Schaubi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Schaubi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Schaubi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Schaubi looking for a sweep. Not yet Schaubi, not yet. Schaubi pulls Anderson in to control the position. Anderson pushes down on Schaubi's leg and manages to get into half guard. Schaubi is trying to get back to full guard. Schaubi has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Schaubi is trying to maintain the position but Anderson is very close to passing his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Schaubi tries to get to full guard but Anderson has control of the leg. Anderson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Schaubi manages to get to full guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Anderson won't allow Schaubi to sweep him here.
Schaubi is looking for a triangle but Anderson pushes his legs off easily.
Anderson content to stall in guard here.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Anderson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Schaubi looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Anderson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Schaubi wants to get back to full guard.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Schaubi is still trying to improve position. Anderson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Schaubi controlling the position for now. Schaubi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anderson is working away from the top position though.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Anderson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Anderson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Schaubi trying to control here.
Schaubi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Anderson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Schaubi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Schaubi is trying to maintain the position but Anderson is very close to passing his half guard. Schaubi is positioning himself well to prevent Anderson advancing to mount.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Schaubi wants to sweep but Anderson has passed to side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Anderson (3) vs (0) Schaubi Schaubi tries to improve position but can't.
Anderson tries for a kimura but Schaubi is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Schaubi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Schaubi wants to get back to full guard.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Anderson performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Schaubi is looking to improve his position.
Anderson not doing much here.
Schaubi is looking to control Anderson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Schaubi avoid being mounted?
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Schaubi wants to get back to full guard but Anderson has mounted him! Score +3 for passing guard: Anderson (6) vs (0) Schaubi Schaubi wants to control but Anderson is having none of it. Schaubi tries to get back to half guard but can't. Anderson trying to control but he's not successful this time.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Anderson controlling the pace for now. Schaubi is trying desperately to improve position. Anderson content just to control the position here.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Schaubi wants to control but Anderson is having none of it. Schaubi regains half guard. Schaubi is positioning himself well to prevent Anderson advancing to mount. Still in half guard, Anderson seems content to control.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Schaubi wants to get back to full guard. Anderson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Schaubi wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Anderson trying to pass the guard but Schaubi defending well.
And that's the end of the fight! Anderson takes the fight on points by 6 to 0. During a confident post fight interview, Richard Anderson thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. Abu Schaubi spoke after the fight, saying 'Gawld dawg'. |
