Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Small Richard (ranked 150 p4p, 376 weight class) and Kalevelis Kalvis (ranked 12 p4p, 35 weight class). Kalevelis Kalvis has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Small Richard's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 29 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Small Richard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kalevelis Kalvis! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kalvis misses the shot to the body. Kalevelis Kalvis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kalvis throws a body shot but no joy. Kalvis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Richard looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kalvis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Richard manages to avoid it. Richard tries to counter with a takedown but Kalvis is quick to defend against it. Richard moves forwards but Kalvis connects with a nice, crisp jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Richard slips under a jab from Kalvis. A swing and a miss from Kalvis. Kalvis with a body punch. A glancing blow.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Kalvis lands a body shot.
Kalvis lands with a hook. Richard tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Kalvis misses with a body shot.
Richard tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kalvis manages to circle out of the way. Kalvis throws a poor cross that misses
and Richard moves into the clinch.
Richard has picked Kalvis up - he's going for a ride! Richard dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Kalvis wants to get back to full guard. Richard seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Kalvis tries to get to full guard but Richard has control of the leg. Kalvis regains full guard. Nicely done.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Richard is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. This has been an exciting period of action! Richard throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kalvis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Richard has passed into side control.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Kalvis takes a decent strike to the side of the head. Kalvis wants to stand but Richard is controlling his posture from full guard. Kalvis is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Richard trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Kalvis looking to pass the guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kalevelis Kalvis dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Kalvis bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Richard displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kalvis throws out the jab. Kalvis misses with an uppercut. Richard saw that one coming. Kalvis lands with an overhand left. Kalvis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Richard moves away. Richard changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Richard blocks a jab. Kalvis misses with a lunging right hand

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Richard winds up and cracks Kalvis with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Kalvis has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Kalvis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kalvis. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Richard's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kalvis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Richard distracts Kalvis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Richard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kalvis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kalvis looking for a sweep. Not yet Kalvis, not yet.  That's three minutes gone in the round. Kalvis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Richard loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ground and pound from Richard seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kalvis avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Richard. Richard working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Kalvis manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Richard landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Richard is nestled in close to Kalvis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Richard lands a nice short elbow. Richard working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nice strikes from Richard there. Kalvis wants to improve his position but Richard is controlling well.

Small Richard dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Richard is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kalvis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Kalvis regains half guard. Kalvis wants to get back to his feet. Kalvis is trying to maintain the position but Richard is very close to passing his half guard. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kalvis is looking to improve his position.

Kalvis is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Richard is trying to control the action in half guard but Kalvis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kalvis has his hands clasped together around Richard's back. He's all about the action. Richard lands strikes from half guard.
Kalvis kicks Richard off and gets back to his feet. Kalvis throws a lazy right hand but Richard sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Richard was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. A big right from Kalvis misses.

and Richard counters with a straight right hand. Kalvis waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Richard. Richard swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. A swing and a miss from Kalvis. Richard drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kalvis sprawls and moves away. Kalvis misses with an uppercut. Richard is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kalvis. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kalvis swings and misses with a hook to the body.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Small Richard. I think Richard has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
