Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John James (ranked 1591 p4p, 649 weight class) and Mickey McKinley (ranked 201 p4p, 91 weight class). Mickey McKinley told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
McKinley scores with the left hand. James knows he should have avoided that one.
McKinley tries to clinch but James is having none of it.
James changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
James keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McKinley doesn't manage to clinch there - James circles away.

McKinley gets a clinch.
James blocking some punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McKinley misses with a hook to the ribs.
James is trying to force a seperation but McKinley has the dominant position.
McKinley has James pressed against the cage, preventing James from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
McKinley is leaning against James and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

It looks like John James has been cut.
McKinley tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

McKinley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McKinley thows a left - swing and a miss!
As McKinley looks to move away, James throws a big counter combo but McKinley just gets out of the way.
McKinley dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on James. That did some damage!
McKinley tries to clinch there but James circles away.
McKinley has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

James moves forwards but McKinley connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Jab, jab by McKinley - just one landing.
Mickey McKinley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McKinley scores with a nice right hand.
James walks into a jab.

McKinley rushes James and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
McKinley has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
James wants to get back to striking at distance but McKinley won't allow it.

McKinley manages to break the clinch.
McKinley thumps James with a low kick.

McKinley closes the distance and pushes James back into the cage.
James looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
McKinley tries to throw a body punch but James avoids it by throwing McKinley back against the cage.
McKinley fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

A head punch on the inside from McKinley fails to land.
James tries to circle away but McKinley has him pinned against the cage.
McKinley works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
James blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A head punch blocked on the inside by James.

McKinley throws a punch but it's blocked by James.
McKinley throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jamess head.
McKinley lands a body punch in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McKinley.
McKinley misses with the head strike.
James wants to break free but McKinley has control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mickey McKinley dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John James's cut.

McKinley throws a quick inside leg kick.
James takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Mickey McKinley seems to be getting the better of the standup.

McKinley cracks James with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. McKinley has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning James to stand back up!

McKinley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with James, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McKinley has him pressed against the cage.
McKinley fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
James wants to break the clinch but can't.
McKinley misses with a hook from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McKinley misses with some punches.
McKinley misses with a shot to the kidneys.
McKinley tries to work over James's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
McKinley scores with a hook to the body.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
James on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
McKinley lands a slapping body shot.
McKinley connects with a nice looking jab.
McKinley lands a nice shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James drops his hands momentarily and McKinley needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips James just on the top of the head. James drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in James - he's done!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Mickey McKinley!
After winning the bout, Mickey McKinley thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
