Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joaquin Crane (ranked 4049 p4p, 3854 weight class) and Chase Turpin (ranked 0 p4p, 324 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joaquin Crane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chase Turpin!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Bruno Hogan and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turpin tries for a takedown but Crane circles away easily

and Crane counters with a left and a right that hurts Turpin! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Crane jumps into full mount!

Turpin is rocked!
Turpin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Turpin is still in real trouble! Can Crane finish him?

Crane is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Turpin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Turpin shrugs it off.
Turpin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Crane looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Crane throwing strikes here but Turpin is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Turpin seems to have recovered his senses.
Crane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Crane is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Turpin is surviving well by controlling Crane's body position as best he can.

Crane looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Crane looking to ground and pound but Turpin is blocking nicely.
Turpin takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Turpin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Crane with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Crane throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Turpin because Crane loaded up on that one.

Crane has control of Turpin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Turpin regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Crane is landing with some decent strikes but Turpin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Crane shoots in and drives through. Turpin sprawls well.

Crane fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Turpin sprawls well initially but Crane persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Turpin is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Crane throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Crane is looking for a kimura but Turpin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Crane to get the leverage.

Crane is nestled in close to Turpin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Crane decides to stand and escape the position.
Turpin is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Crane.

Crane feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Turpin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Crane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Crane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Crane stands up from Turpin's guard - Crane perhaps looking for a knockout.
Crane throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Crane throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Crane dips to his left and cracks Turpin with an uppercut!
Crane lands with a hook. Turpin tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Crane fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Turpin takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Crane scores with a hook to the body. Turpin takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Turpin fails with the takedown
and Crane counters with a one-two to the body.
Turpin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Crane is looking to clinch but Turpin is avoiding it.
Crane lands a body shot.
Crane throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Crane connects with a right hand. Turpin shakes it off.
Crane shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Turpin pinned against the cage. Turpin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Turpin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Crane lands a nice shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Crane's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Crane duly obliges.
Turpin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Joaquin Crane is winning the standup battle so far.
Crane pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Turpin back to the cage. Crane follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Crane throws a head kick that misses.
Crane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Turpin can do to turn this around?

Turpin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Crane lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Crane is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Turpin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Crane has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Turpin is on him like a limpet, forcing Crane back against the cage.
Turpin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Crane is trying to pull guard but Turpin has him pressed against the cage.
Crane has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Turpin after a bit of a struggle.

Crane throws a knee to the head but misses.
Turpin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Crane fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Crane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Turpin tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Crane sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Turpin taps out!
