Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomis Ferns (ranked 4755 p4p, 1842 weight class) and Shashlyk Lykmekov (ranked 155 p4p, 87 weight class). Thomis Ferns could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Shashlyk Lykmekov's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomis Ferns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shashlyk Lykmekov! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ferns darts in looking for a takedown but Lykmekov gets double underhooks and turns Ferns into the ropes. Lykmekov shapes to counter with a head kick. Lykmekov wants a takedown but no success here.
Lykmekov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ferns looks for a takedown but Lykmekov sprawls well. Lykmekov circles away from the clinch attempt and Lykmekov counters with a body kick that stops Ferns in his tracks momentarily. Ferns shoots and misses and Lykmekov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomis Ferns. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ferns is breathing heavily. Ferns with a poor takedown
and Lykmekov counters by clinching up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lykmekov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Ferns lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lykmekov circles away quickly and effectively.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Lykmekov. Ferns on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ferns tries to get out of the position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ferns taking punishment in the form of punches.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
Lykmekov stands up.
Lykmekov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ferns to the ground. Lykmekov is now in Ferns's guard. Lykmekov wants to get up but he can't break Ferns's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ferns can't keep his opponent in guard - Lykmekov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Ferns avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lykmekov. Lykmekov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Lykmekov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferns is looking to control Lykmekov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ferns avoid being mounted? Ferns knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lykmekov on the ground. Lykmekov performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Lykmekov moves nicely into side control. A control attempt from Ferns but he's now mounted!
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lykmekov has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Ferns is forced to tap!
