With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rohan Benitez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Cornmier!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cornmier shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Benitez as he jumps to the side.
Benitez cracks a nice hook into Cornmier's ribs.
Cornmier shoots in looking for a takedown but Benitez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cornmier's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Cornmier shoots in for a double leg but Benitez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Benitez swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rohan Benitez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Cornmier.
Cornmier drops his hands momentarily and Benitez takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Cornmier misses with a left hand
and Benitez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like David Cornmier has been cut.
Good exchange - Benitez coming out on top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benitez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cornmier stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Benitez is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Benitez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Benitez dodges the punch combination from Cornmier.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Benitez listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Benitez connects with a body shot that sends Cornmier's belly button to the back.
Cornmier misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Benitez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Benitez lands a big uppercut and Cornmier crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Cornmier looks OK. Benitez waves Cornmier back to his feet!

Cornmier is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Benitez fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Cornmier to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Cornmier looks to clinch but Benitez throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Cornmier taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Rohan Benitez!
