The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Mferi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Mendes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Mendes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Mendes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mferi.
Ispa Mferi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mferi connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mendes's hands.

Mferi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Mferi might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

The fighters circle momentarily. Mferi darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mendes is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mendes is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Mferi just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Mendes has gone limp and this one is over!
