Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zaire Surprenant (ranked 3891 p4p, 1951 weight class) and Joaquin Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zaire Surprenant has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zaire Surprenant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joaquin Santana! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Surprenant shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Santana napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Santana explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Surprenant. This has been an exciting period of action!
Surprenant working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Surprenant is looking to take a break and control but Santana is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Santana being controlled for a moment.
Surprenant wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Santana, who protects the arm well.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Surprenant controls the position from side control. Santana is looking for a sweep.
Surprenant tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Surprenant trying to control the action but Santana is working from the bottom. Santana tries to get back to half guard but can't. Surprenant wants to take a breather but Santana manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Surprenant. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Surprenant stays in close to Santana's body and controls the position.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Surprenant won't allow Santana to get back to his feet.

Surprenant drops back looking for a leg! Santana is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Santana manages to kick Surprenant off! Surprenant jumps back into Santana's guard.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Surprenant fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Santana to the ground. Surprenant is now in Santana's guard.
Santana has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Surprenant can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Surprenant trying to control the position from guard on top but Santana is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Santana has his foot on Surprenant's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Surprenant works his way back into a safe position though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Surprenant stands and throws Santana's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Surprenant looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Zaire Surprenant will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Surprenant closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Surprenant lands in his opponent's guard.
Santana is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Surprenant defends well. Zaire Surprenant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Santana looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Surprenant pushing down on Santana's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Surprenant trying to control from half guard but Santana is working away.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Surprenant has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Surprenant trying to control but he's not successful this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Surprenant takes Santana's back.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Santana is trying to stand back up.
Surprenant is persistently looking for the submission but Santana is defending it well.
You can see the frustration on Santana's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Surprenant's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Santana tries to escape the position.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana keeps trying to improve his position.
Surprenant is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Santana has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Santana manages to stand up with Surprenant still on his back. Eventually Surprenant drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.
Surprenant drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Santana is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Surprenant advances position into side control!
 That's four minutes gone in the round.
Surprenant tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Surprenant is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Santana can do to turn this around?
Surprenant tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Surprenant has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Santana tries to bench press Surprenant off him but Surprenant keeps the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Zaire Surprenant dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Surprenant throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Santana tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Surprenant is in Santana's guard. Surprenant stops Santana from standing up. Surprenant sitting in guard here, content to control. Santana keeping moving, preventing Surprenant from controlling successfully.

Santana kicks Surprenant off and gets back to his feet.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Surprenant stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santana swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Surprenant wants to control from the top but Santana keeps moving. Surprenant controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Surprenant's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Santana has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Surprenant is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Santana. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight! Zaire Surprenant showed his dominance in that final round. Well Surprenant has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
