PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Callum Quinn (ranked 3647 p4p, 3738 weight class) and Karlton Rustok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karlton Rustok told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Callum Quinn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karlton Rustok! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinn takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Rustok throws a right and a left that Quinn avoids nicely. Rustok connects with a good right hand that stumbles Quinn. Quinn circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Quinn tries to move into range but Rustok moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Quinn shoots in looking for a takedown. Rustok tries to sprawl out of it but Quinn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rustok manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Quinn lands a left and a right that send Rustok crashing to the mat, dazed. Quinn thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
 It looks like Karlton Rustok has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Rustok catches Quinn with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Rustok misses with a series of wild punches.
Rustok cracks Quinn with a right hand to the side of the head. Quinn shoots and misses and Rustok counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Quinn. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Callum Quinn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Quinn fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Good shot there by Rustok. Quinn takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Quinn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rustok sprawls well. Rustok wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Quinn gets slowly back to his feet. Rustok lands a really nice looking cross but Quinn seems unphased.
The fighters circle momentarily. Rustok darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
 Quinn is rocked! Quinn throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rustok counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Oh Quinn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Quinn is breathing heavily. Quinn glances at the clock... BAM! Rustok nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Quinn crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Quinn is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Karlton Rustok!
