Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paavali Kontiainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Allejo Madera!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kontiainen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Madera to the mat! Madera manages to get full guard.
Kontiainen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Madera has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kontiainen has managed to get both his arms back between Madera's legs - danger averted.
Kontiainen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kontiainen stays in close to Madera's body and controls the position.
Kontiainen throws a strike but Madera rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Madera throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kontiainen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kontiainen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kontiainen throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kontiainen wants to sweep here but Madera controlling him for the moment.
Kontiainen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kontiainen is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Madera is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
