Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jakob Woods (ranked 4114 p4p, 3613 weight class) and Ted Jones (ranked 389 p4p, 361 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jakob Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ted Jones!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods moves out of range as Jones strikes.
Woods swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Woods doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.
Woods has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Soul Supremacy Rio in the buildup to the fight.
Woods slips a jab and a cross from Jones.
Woods has a takedown stuffed.
As Woods backs off Jones throws a huge counter combo but Woods manages to avoid it all.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Woods.
Woods throws a counter high kick but Jones was just alert enough to avoid it.
Jones misses with a two punch combination.
No luck for Woods with that takedown attempt.
Jones changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jakob Woods. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Woods bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jones is not content to let Woods control the position.

Jones sneaks out the side door and pushes Woods away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Jones scores with a one two! Woods had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Woods fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jones felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Jones is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Woods looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Woods is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jones can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
