Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Reese Remington (ranked 255 p4p, 570 weight class) and Alfred Shipley (ranked 32 p4p, 69 weight class). Reese Remington has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Reese Remington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alfred Shipley!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shipley throws a leg kick that misses.
Good leg kick by Remington.
Remington throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Shipley.
Remington goes for a double leg but Shipley avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Shipley continues to drive forward.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Shipley.

Shipley is fighting off a takedown attempt but Remington is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Shipley to the mat. Shipley regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shipley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Alfred Shipley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Shipley has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shipley has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Remington is proving hard to escape from.

and Remington decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Shipley's guard.

Remington drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shipley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shipley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shipley!

Remington connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Shipley momentarily.
