The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paiva connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hatton momentarily.
Hatton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Paiva paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hatton looks to throw the jab but Paiva is out of range.
Paiva bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Some wild striking there from Paiva.
Hatton wants to clinch up but Paiva keeps it at a distance.
Hatton is looking to clinch.
Paiva throws a one two combo.
Hatton shoots for a double leg takedown but Paiva sprawls well. He's pushed Hatton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hatton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hatton is looking to clinch but Paiva is avoiding it.
Paiva ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hatton wants to clinch.
Paiva lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Paiva.
It looks like Fatman Hatton has been cut.
Hatton moves in looking to clinch but Paiva pushes him off.
Left hook, right uppercut from Paiva.
Hatton gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Paiva.
Hatton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hatton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Paiva's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Paiva is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Hatton frees his head nicely. Oh but Paiva has switched to an armbar! Hatton is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
