PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Otto McBean (ranked 636 p4p, 494 weight class) and Saul Tacarante (ranked 55 p4p, 43 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Otto McBean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Saul Tacarante!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tacarante moves into the clinch.
Tacarante works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

McBean is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Tacarante can't fight it off and eventually McBean manages to take the fight to the floor. Tacarante looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McBean pushes down on Tacarante's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McBean in particular looking to stall.

McBean is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tacarante defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tacarante keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McBean tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tacarante knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
McBean is trying to control. Tacarante wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

McBean is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tacarante is just riding it out for now. McBean eventually gives up the hold.

McBean is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

McBean is working for a submission of some sort.
Tacarante is looking to improve his position.

McBean is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tacarante has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tacarante is pressing down on McBean's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
McBean wants to control from the top but Tacarante keeps moving.
Tacarante lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Tacarante pushes down on McBean's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McBean regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tacarante trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tacarante has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing McBean to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Tacarante is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - McBean pulls down on the head and he's put Tacarante to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Otto McBean!
