PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kade Calderon (ranked 2291 p4p, 2982 weight class) and Arman Tsarukyan (ranked 155 p4p, 187 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kade Calderon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arman Tsarukyan!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calderon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Calderon closes the distance looking to clinch

and Tsarukyan counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Calderon is pushing Tsarukyan's head away, looking to escape. Tsarukyan manages to hold on to the position though.
Calderon is being controlled here.
Tsarukyan wants to control but Calderon is keeping him busy.
Calderon is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tsarukyan wants to pass the guard but Calderon is defending well.
Calderon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tsarukyan is working away from the top position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tsarukyan with the ground and pound but Calderon uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tsarukyan is working Calderon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Calderon has control of Tsarukyan's left arm, preventing Tsarukyan from doing any damage.
Tsarukyan is stalling in the full guard.
Tsarukyan trying to control the position from guard on top but Calderon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Calderon controlling the position.
Tsarukyan is looking to advance position but Calderon has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Tsarukyan is in all sorts of trouble here.
Calderon sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Calderon trying to control but Tsarukyan is having none of it.
Tsarukyan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tsarukyan is looking to get to half guard.
Calderon wants to control the pace but Tsarukyan is squirming around nicely.
Calderon avoids the attempt from Tsarukyan to control.
Calderon trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Tsarukyan tries to hold on but Calderon postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tsarukyan can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tsarukyan can't escape the position.
Calderon trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Tsarukyan wants to control but Calderon is having none of it.
Calderon looking to control and managing it successfully.
Tsarukyan is looking to improve his position but Calderon isn't that keen on the idea.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Calderon wants to control the pace but Tsarukyan is squirming around nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kade Calderon dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Calderon rushes Tsarukyan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Calderon comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Tsarukyan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tsarukyan takes a knee right on the jaw!
Calderon connects with a nasty looking knee right to Tsarukyan's face.
Tsarukyan takes an elbow to the forehead.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Calderon.
Tsarukyan takes an elbow to the temple.
Calderon gets underhooks to prevent Tsarukyan's takedown attempt.
Tsarukyan looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Calderon lands an elbow that stopped Tsarukyan in his tracks for a moment.
Calderon is struggling to control the position.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Calderon obliges.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tsarukyan is looking to break free of the clinch but Calderon has double underhooks.
Calderon gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Calderon is looking to control Tsarukyan's arms but Tsarukyan gets an underhook and turns him. Now Calderon has his back to the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Calderon lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Calderon lands a left hand.
Calderon lands a nice uppercut.

Tsarukyan is rocked!

Calderon wants the takedown. Tsarukyan is fighting it off but Calderon persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Tsarukyan's guard against the cage.
Tsarukyan is looking to stand back up but Calderon counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Tsarukyan.
Tsarukyan is still in real trouble! Can Calderon finish him?

Calderon working over Tsarukyan with some ground and pound. Tsarukyan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Calderon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kade Calderon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Calderon scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Calderon with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Calderon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tsarukyan is looking to get back to full guard here but Calderon has managed to pass to side control instead.

Calderon stands up.

Calderon clinches up with Tsarukyan and pushes him back against the cage.
Calderon lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Calderon creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Calderon lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Calderon lands a hook that snaps the head of Tsarukyan backwards.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Calderon throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Calderon breaks from the clinch.
Calderon is pawing at Tsarukyan, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Tsarukyan's nose. Tsarukyan is badly hurt! Calderon pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Tsarukyan tries desperately to hold on but Calderon is relentless in his assault! As Tsarukyan receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Calderon away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kade Calderon!
Kade Calderon tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
