And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 3 losses; Mateo Wolfe! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.

Shimada gets a takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Shimada (2) vs (0) Wolfe Wolfe tries to get to full guard but Shimada has control of the leg. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shimada in particular looking to stall. Wolfe is trying to get back to full guard. Wolfe manages to get to full guard.
Wolfe looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shimada got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wolfe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shimada has managed to get both his arms back between Wolfe's legs - danger averted. Shimada won't allow Wolfe to sweep him here.
Wolfe had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shimada defends it easily.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Shimada slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Score +3 for passing guard: Shimada (5) vs (0) Wolfe Shimada slows the pace down. Shimada is looking to take a break and control but Wolfe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Shimada is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wolfe knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Wolfe tries to buck Shimada off but Shimada is having none of it.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Wolfe is still trying to improve position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shimada looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Wolfe seems a little lost for a moment, as Shimada dominates the positioning. Wolfe struggling a bit here. Wolfe tries to buck Shimada off but Shimada is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee asks Shimada politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Shimada prefers to stall for the moment though. Shimada wants to control but Wolfe is keeping him busy.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Wolfe is looking to reverse the position. Shimada wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wolfe keeps working. Wolfe gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Shimada prevents Wolfe from improving his position.

Wolfe is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shimada is aware though and is defending well. Wolfe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wolfe is on top in guard.

Wolfe looking for a sweep. Not yet Wolfe, not yet. Shimada is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Shimada sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wolfe's guard. Wolfe is trying to get back to full guard.
Shimada seems to be working for a kimura but Wolfe defends the submission attempt.

Wolfe tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wolfe is looking to cinch up a triangle. Shimada throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Wolfe's body to avoid the submission. Wolfe has instead reached around Shimada's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Wolfe arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
