This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Kamil Marek! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 27 wins and 14 losses; Cleetus Boone! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Boone shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Marek (0) vs (2) Boone Boone sitting and controlling from the half guard. Boone is thwarting Marek's attempts to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Marek trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Boone controlling from mount. Boone takes Marek's back. Score +3 for taking back: Marek (0) vs (8) Boone Boone is riding his opponent, not letting Marek buck him off. Marek rolls, trying to escape but Boone keeps control of the position.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. I would not like to be Marek right now.
Marek trying to control the hands but Boone won't let him. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. I really don't envy Marek right now.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Marek trying to control the position but Boone manages to sink in the hooks. Boone is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Marek is trying to break free.
Boone controls the position.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Marek is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Boone just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Boone's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Marek tries to break free.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marek is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Marek tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Boone tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Marek is trying to escape the mount.
Marek tries to hold on but Boone postures up. Boone controlling the position easily from mount.
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Marek tries to reverse the position but Boone maintains control. Boone takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Boone seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Marek is holding on tight.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Marek is trying to escape the mount.
Boone controlling the position easily from mount. Boone trying to control but he's not successful this time. Marek wants to control but Boone is having none of it.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Boone prevents Marek from getting the reversal. Marek is working hard here to advance position. Boone controlling the position easily from mount. Marek has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Marek tries to escape the position.
Boone trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Marek doesn't escape. You can see the frustration on Marek's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
It looks like Boone might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Boone has the hooks in. Marek is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Marek wants to control his opponent's hands but Boone gets his hands free. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Marek breaks Boone's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Marek (2) vs (11) Boone Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Boone is adopting a defensive guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Boone wins on points by 11 to 2. During a confident post fight interview, Cleetus Boone thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. |
