Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikheil Andronikashvili (ranked 3094 p4p, 2827 weight class) and Yoshihiro Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Mikheil Andronikashvili! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshihiro Akiyama! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akiyama with a nice cross. Andronikashvili moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Akiyama keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Andronikashvili. Akiyama has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Akiyama lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Andronikashvili circles away quickly and effectively. Andronikashvili feinted there with a counter leg kick. Andronikashvili scoring well with a low kick there.
Akiyama scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Akiyama uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Andronikashvili.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Andronikashvili. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Andronikashvili throws a chopping leg kick but Akiyama manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Akiyama is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Akiyama misses the jab. Akiyama throws a jab but it's blocked by Andronikashvili. Andronikashvili throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Akiyama or perhaps it was just good defense by Andronikashvili, which made it look bad. As Akiyama backs away, Andronikashvili returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Akiyama has taken the fight to the clinch.

Mikheil Andronikashvili has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshihiro Akiyama.
Andronikashvili breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A solid leg kick lands there for Andronikashvili.
Andronikashvili throws a head kick but Akiyama moves out of range.
And Akiyama tries to counter it with a takedown but Andronikashvili pushes his down on his head and steps out. Andronikashvili needs to keep his hands up - Akiyama had a free shot at his head there. Andronikashvili throws a nice looking combination but Akiyama bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Andronikashvili throws a low kick but it's checked well by Akiyama. Andronikashvili shoots in and drives through. Akiyama sprawls well. Akiyama misses with a few strikes there.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Andronikashvili. Andronikashvili ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Andronikashvili fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Akiyama checks it well. Akiyama is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Akiyama paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Andronikashvili walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Akiyama checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Andronikashvili chopping away at his opponent's legs.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Andronikashvili thumps Akiyama with a low kick. Akiyama tries a head kick but it misses.
Andronikashvili displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Akiyama. Akiyama throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Andronikashvili throws a series of punches but Akiyama moves out of range. Akiyama drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Andronikashvili defends it well. Andronikashvili swinging wildly here.
Akiyama checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Andronikashvili throws a lazy right hand but Akiyama sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Akiyama swings away with a leg kick that misses. A low kick from Andronikashvili misses
and Akiyama counters with a takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Akiyama tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Akiyama postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Andronikashvili is not content to let Akiyama control the position. Andronikashvili tries to buck Akiyama off but Akiyama is having none of it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Yoshihiro Akiyama will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Akiyama shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Andronikashvili pinned against the cage. Andronikashvili gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Andronikashvili will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Akiyama on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Nice defenses there by Akiyama. Mikheil Andronikashvili is winning the standup battle so far. Andronikashvili throws a head kick that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Akiyama wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Andronikashvili, who protects the arm well. Akiyama has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Andronikashvili! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Andronikashvili is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Andronikashvili is wriggling around trying to escape.
Akiyama has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Andronikashvili's face.
Akiyama content just to control the position here.
Akiyama looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Akiyama wants to control the pace but Andronikashvili is squirming around nicely.

Akiyama looking to secure an arm triangle but Andronikashvili defends it well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Andronikashvili tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akiyama working for a guillotine from mount but Andronikashvili is in no mood to give up.
Akiyama has isolated one of Andronikashvili's arms. Andronikashvili looking to fight him off but Akiyama twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
