Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yuan Shikai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brodie Bruce!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruce throws a body shot but no joy.
Shikai was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Shikai fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bruce looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bruce drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Shikai lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bruce at a distance.
Shikai uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Bruce is rocked!
Bruce misses with an uppercut
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Bruce is still on wobbly legs! Can Shikai finish him?
Bruce throws a jab when Shikai was well out of range.
Bruce seems to have recovered his senses.
We've been told by Shikai's head coaches at Tran MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bruce throws a hook but Shikai avoids it easily.
Shikai delivers a nice body kick.
Shikai lands with a thumping leg kick.
Shikai batters Bruce with a massive right followed by a huge left! Bruce is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Shikai lands a final crushing right hand to drop Bruce to the mat with a gruesome thud! Shikai is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Yuan Shikai!
Yuan Shikai bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
