Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Robyn Hobbes (ranked 4151 p4p, 25937 weight class) and Best Chess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Best Chess is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robyn Hobbes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Best Chess!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hobbes is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chess's half guard.
Hobbes throws a strike but Chess avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Hobbes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hobbes wants to pass the guard but Chess is keeping the position.
Hobbes postures up.
Hobbes wants to pass the guard but Chess is keeping the position.
Hobbes is working hard here to advance position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chess controls Hobbes momentarily but Hobbes frees himself.
Hobbes controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Hobbes preventing the sweep.
Chess has momentary wrist control but Hobbes slips an elbow through the middle.
Hobbes engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Hobbes tries to free his leg and advance position but Chess is retaining full guard.
Hobbes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Chess controls Hobbes momentarily but Hobbes frees himself.
Hobbes throwing strikes from guard but Chess blocks nicely.
Hobbes is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hobbes looks to land a combination. Chess sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Hobbes darts in looking for a takedown but Chess gets double underhooks and turns Hobbes into the cage.
Chess shapes to counter with a head kick.
Chess stops a takedown attempt from Hobbes.
Hobbes landing knees to the body.

Hobbes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chess takes a kick to the side of the head.
Hobbes pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A combination from Hobbes does no damage.
Hobbes lands with a slapping head kick.
Hobbes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hobbes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chess swivels and escapes.
Chess counters with a body kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robyn Hobbes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hobbes with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Chess on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hobbes. Hobbes obviously looking to wear him down.

Hobbes pushes Chess up against the cage in a clinch.

Hobbes wants the takedown. Chess is fighting it off but Hobbes persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Chess's guard against the cage.
Chess manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hobbes manages to get himself to full guard.

Hobbes is adopting a defensive guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hobbes looking for a sweep. Not yet Hobbes, not yet.
Hobbes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hobbes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hobbes continues to stall.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Robyn Hobbes dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Hobbes dives in and grabs Chess's left leg, looking for a takedown. Chess pushes down on Hobbes's head and hops out.
Hobbes scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Chess doesn't seem bothered though.
Chess blocks a head kick by Hobbes.
Hobbes shoots in and drives through. Chess sprawls well.
Chess unleashes a big counter combination but Hobbes bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Hobbes instigates a clinch.
Chess changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hobbes fights it off and pushes away nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chess fails to land the takedown.
Chess on the wrong end of a nice hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Chess crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Hobbes - the referee stops the clock and Chess gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Hobbes. Chess manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Hobbes throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Chess displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hobbes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robyn Hobbes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chess will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hobbes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chess can do to turn this around?
Hobbes shoots for a double leg takedown but Chess sprawls well. He's pushed Hobbes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Chess steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Hobbes connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Hobbes drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Chess is trying to control Hobbes's posture but Hobbes avoids it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chess is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Robyn Hobbes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hobbes swings around for an armbar but Chess sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hobbes's guard.
Hobbes wants to improve his position but instead Chess has moved into half guard.
Hobbes keeping hold of Chess's head, controlling as best he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chess wants to take a breather but Hobbes is having none of it.
Hobbes wants to improve his position but Chess is controlling well.
Hobbes controlling the position for now.
Hobbes wants to get back to full guard but Chess has passed into side control.
Hobbes is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Chess off and has taken his back!

Oooh a big shot gets through from Hobbes. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Chess is breathing heavily.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
I really don't envy Chess right now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hobbes lands a shot to the body.

Hobbes has got his arm under Chess's chin working for the choke� has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Chess has spun round into Hobbes's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Hobbes wants to get back to full guard but Chess has passed into side control.

Hobbes is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hobbes manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Hobbes keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Hobbes wants to sweep but Chess has passed to side control!
Best Chess has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chess takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hobbes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chess wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hobbes throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Best Chess.
Well Hobbes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
