Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Malachi Rhodes (ranked 4095 p4p, 3022 weight class) and Chad Gepte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gepte is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Styx - Mr. Roboto. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malachi Rhodes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chad Gepte!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gepte takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Gepte rushes Rhodes and presses him up against the cage.
Gepte has a couple of punches blocked by Rhodes.
Rhodes is trying to force a seperation but Gepte has the dominant position.
Gepte swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Rhodes can't find room to land a body shot as Gepte controls the action.
Gepte has Rhodes pressed against the cage.
Gepte scores a nice knee to the body.
Rhodes throws a head punch that misses.
Rhodes gets underhooks to prevent Gepte's takedown attempt.
Rhodes working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rhodes lands with a left to the head.
Rhodes wants to break free but Gepte has control.
Rhodes prevents the takedown attempt.
Rhodes lands a nice shot to the body.

Gepte gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Rhodes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gepte on the ground.

Gepte sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rhodes's guard.
Gepte tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rhodes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gepte trying to control the action but Rhodes is working from the bottom.
Gepte passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rhodes!
Poor strikes thrown by Gepte there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Gepte is working for a guillotine from mount but Rhodes frees his head quite easily.
Gepte misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Gepte trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Gepte looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Gepte tries to control but Rhodes wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gepte is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rhodes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rhodes shrugs it off.
Gepte looking to control but Rhodes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gepte is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gepte has control of Rhodes's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rhodes regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chad Gepte dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rhodes lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Rhodes throws a punch but it's blocked by Gepte.
Rhodes gets underhooks to prevent Gepte's takedown attempt.
Gepte tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rhodes just stands there and leans against the cage.
Gepte tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rhodes smiles and moves away.
Malachi Rhodes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chad Gepte.

Gepte goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rhodes prevents it.
Rhodes wants to get back to striking at distance but Gepte won't allow it.

Gepte keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rhodes's efforts to push away.

Gepte drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rhodes on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Gepte jumps guard but Rhodes turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gepte tries for a takedown. No joy.
Gepte is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Rhodes is defending well.

Gepte successfully pulls guard.

Rhodes stands up and waves to Gepte to follow him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sloppy strikes from Rhodes. Those never looked like landing.
Gepte is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Rhodes throws a big counter combination but Gepte scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Malachi Rhodes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rhodes moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Gepte wants to clinch up but Rhodes keeps it at a distance.
Gepte looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Gepte tries to clinch up.
Rhodes circles away from the clinch attempt.

Rhodes misses with a series of wild punches.
A nice combination there by Rhodes.
Rhodes lands a jab to Gepte's midsection.
Gepte gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Rhodes counter with a right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rhodes is leaning against Gepte and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Gepte fails with the takedown.
Gepte wants to clinch but Rhodes slips to the side
enabling Rhodes to counter with a crisp jab.
Gepte fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rhodes blocks a jab.
Gepte tries to clinch up.
Rhodes tries to counter by clinching up but Gepte breaks away and moves out of range.
Gepte fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rhodes avoids it really well and circles away.

Rhodes misses with a few strikes there.
Rhodes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gepte.
Malachi Rhodes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chad Gepte.

Rhodes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gepte tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rhodes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rhodes enables Gepte to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rhodes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Rhodes is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Gepte dives into side control.


Gepte tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Gepte is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rhodes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gepte advances nicely into full mount.

Gepte has hold of Rhodes's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rhodes manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gepte can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rhodes is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rhodes is trying to stand up.

Gepte is working for a guillotine from mount but Rhodes frees his head quite easily.
Gepte lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Gepte jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle�. Ooooh, that looks tight� Rhodes is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rhodes and Gepte has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Gepte is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rhodes has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gepte tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gepte has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gepte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rhodes keeps working.
Rhodes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rhodes tries to get out of the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Chad Gepte comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gepte has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
