Irvin wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bates manages to pass to side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bates has got one arm under Irvin's chin. This could be trouble... Irvin trying to control the other hand but Bates gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Irvin has tapped out! The fight is over!
