Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Herschel Long (ranked 3622 p4p, 3270 weight class) and Boniface Picard (ranked 362 p4p, 334 weight class). Long comes to the cage accompanied by Fire Lessons by PROF. Picard is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by A Different World (feat. Corey Taylor). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Herschel Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Boniface Picard!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long drops his hands momentarily and Picard takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Picard scores with a jab to the body.
Picard misses with a looping right.
Long was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Long ducks under a wild hook from Picard.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Long working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Long breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Long pushes Picard back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Boniface Picard has been cut.
Picard escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Picard throws a looping overhand right but Long ducks down to avoid it.
Picard takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Long fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Picard, pushing him back against the cage.
Long tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Long lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Picard backwards.
Picard's coach down at Gold Samurai's Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Picard's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Long throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Picard escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Picard takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Picard counters with a straight right hand.
Long fails to land the takedown.
Picard swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Long misses with an uppercut

It looks like Herschel Long has been cut.
Picard swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Picard misses the jab.
Long was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Long gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Long misses with a punch to the body.
Long lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Picard is trying to break the clinch but Long has him pressed against the cage.
Long lands a nice uppercut.

Picard pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Long is defended easily by Picard.

Long looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Long lands a nice looking body shot.
Long goes for a double leg but Picard avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Picard continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Herschel Long. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Long needs to keep his hands up - Picard had a free shot at his head there.
Long tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Picard was well out of range. Poor timing from Long.

Picard might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Picard bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Long's head backwards.

Picard throws a lazy right hand but Long sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Picard misses with a straight left.
Long misses with a hook.
Long displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Picard throws out the jab.
Long shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Picard pinned against the cage. Picard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Picard takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Long cracks Picard with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Long has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Picard to stand back up!
Picard is rocked!
Picard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Long circles away quickly and effectively.
Picard is still on wobbly legs! Can Long finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Long has a takedown stuffed.
Picard swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Picard bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Long's head.

Long throws a hook but Picard avoids it easily.
Picard cracks a nice hook into Long's ribs.
Picard lands a really nice looking cross but Long seems unphased.
Herschel Long's cut is getting worse.
Picard throws out a loose jab but Long uses good head movement to avoid it.
A big left from Picard misses.
Long misses with a straight left.
Picard looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Long is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Picard's half guard.
Long missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Long trying to mount his opponent but Picard defends it.
Picard is trying to stand back up but Long is controlling him

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Herschel Long will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Picard now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Long throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Long moves away from the strike by Picard.
Long ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Picard closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
That has opened up Boniface Picard's cut even more.
Long with a poor takedown
and Picard counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Long lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Long with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Picard to score with a decent uppercut.
Long uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Picard throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Long counters with a straight right hand.
Picard throws a shot from downtown. Long moves away and avoids it.

Herschel Long seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Long backs away from a small jab... but Picard lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Long crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Picard with a spectacular finish!
