Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Jones (ranked 2662 p4p, 2854 weight class) and Tomomi Tsuruta (ranked 277 p4p, 295 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tomomi Tsuruta! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones misses with an uppercut. Jones keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
 It looks like Tomomi Tsuruta has been cut. Jones throws a hook but Tsuruta blocks it. Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Tsuruta gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Jones wants to control from the top but Tsuruta keeps moving. We've been hearing that Jones has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Tsuruta is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Jones distracts Tsuruta with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tsuruta trying to control the position.
Tsuruta has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tsuruta works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Tsuruta keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Jones showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones wants to control from the top but Tsuruta keeps moving.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. A big left from Jones misses. Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tsuruta. Jones looks to throw the jab but Tsuruta is out of range. Jones takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Tsuruta uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones. Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tsuruta.
Tsuruta slips under a jab. Jones misses the shot to the body. Jones throws a nice looking combination but Tsuruta bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Tsuruta lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Tsuruta takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Jones throws the left hand but Tsuruta avoids the punch easily. Jones jabbing away but nothing is landing. Jones throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Tsuruta cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jones staying out of range there. Tsuruta swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tsuruta did well to prevent Jones getting side control. Jones trying to control from half guard but Tsuruta is working away. Jones is really struggling to control Tsuruta but he's trying to hold on to the position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jones performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones winds up and cracks Tsuruta with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Jones pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Tsuruta appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. and Tsuruta counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Tsuruta is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Tsuruta moves out of range as Jones strikes. Jones misses with a body shot.
Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Tsuruta preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jones landing some decent shots from guard. Jones preventing the sweep. Jones with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Tsuruta wants to sweep but no luck. Jones lands a couple of decent looking shots. This has been an exciting period of action! Jones is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Jones throws an elbow that misses. Tsuruta uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Tsuruta!

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tsuruta works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jones loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Jones stays in close to Tsuruta's body and controls the position. Jones is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Jones looking to control the position here, rather than advance.  That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tsuruta preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jason Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jones with a flurry of punches that miss. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones controlling from the top position. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Tsuruta cracks Jones with a good jab. Tsuruta misses with a looping right. Jones punishes Tsuruta's body with a nice straight punch. Jones scores with a crisp jab that stopped Tsuruta in his tracks. Tsuruta keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jones. Tsuruta takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses. It looked like Jones wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Jones takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Jones looks to throw the jab but Tsuruta is out of range. Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tsuruta manages to avoid it. Tsuruta displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jones throws out the jab. Nice defenses there by Jones. Jones throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Jones looks to land a right hand but Tsuruta moved out of range. Jones just misses with a punch to the body.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tsuruta moves away. Jones is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Tsuruta like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Tsuruta from another fist facial!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jason Jones! After the fight, Jason Jones was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
