This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 40 wins and 27 losses; Francisco Ngannou!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Kim stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kim wants it to stay on the feet.
No luck for Ngannou with that takedown attempt.

Kim clinches.
Kim drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ngannou pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ngannou shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Harry Kim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Francisco Ngannou.

Kim drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Ngannou has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Kim not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Kim slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ngannou manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kim manages to get himself to full guard.

Ngannou isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kim stacks Ngannou on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kim!

Kim is looking to take a break and control but Ngannou is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kim tries to advance to mount but can't.
Ngannou tries to improve position but can't.

Kim just content to control the position.
Ngannou tries to control but Kim manages to take his back.

Kim keeps control of the position easily here as Ngannou tries to buck him off.
Kim is trying to stick to Ngannou's back but Ngannou is turning into Kim. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kim's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ngannou.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kim is pulling down on Ngannou's head to control his posture.

Kim is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ngannou defends well.
Kim seems keen to control Ngannou's posture.
Ngannou pushes down on Kim's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ngannou is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kim is just riding it out for now. Ngannou eventually gives up the hold.

Ngannou has hold of Kim's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kim tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Ngannou cranks the arm and Kim screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kim, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
