Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nikolas Conner (ranked 2198 p4p, 2530 weight class) and Antonio Rivera (ranked 194 p4p, 218 weight class). Nikolas Conner has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nikolas Conner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antonio Rivera! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Conner connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. The fight stays on the outside here - Conner looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Nikolas Conner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rivera shoots in for a takedown but Conner shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. A nice leg kick from Conner, right into the meat of the thigh.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rivera or perhaps it was just good defense by Conner, which made it look bad. Conner lands with a thumping leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivera shoots in for a takedown but Conner shows good takedown defense. Nikolas Conner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Rivera. Rivera shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Conner as he avoids it easily.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Conner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Conner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rivera, pushing him back against the cage. Conner gets through Rivera's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Conner pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Rivera is trying to drag Conner to the mat but Conner just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Conner scores with a shoulder strike. Conner doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Conner gets through Rivera's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Conner has Rivera pressed against the cage.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Conner tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Conner is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Conner seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Conner stops a takedown attempt from Rivera.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera takes an elbow to the temple. Conner lands with a light punch inside. Conner is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Nikolas Conner. Conner lands with a kick to the temple. Rivera shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Conner throws a head kick that misses. Rivera is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. We've been told by Conner's head coaches at BANZAI COMBAT ACADEMY HELSINKI that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Conner throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rivera on the side of the head. Rivera tries for a takedown but Conner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Conner seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Conner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Conner wants it to stay on the feet. A little feinted left hand from Conner on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Conner throws a shot from downtown. Rivera moves away and avoids it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Conner throws a series of punches but Rivera avoids them all with ease. Rivera drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Conner defends it well. Conner tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rivera is able to avoid easily. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Nikolas Conner dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Conner tests Rivera's chin there with a solid looking shot. Conner throws a leg kick which misses Rivera's front leg but catches the back leg as Rivera tries to avoid it. Conner throws a series of punches but Rivera avoids them all with ease. Conner fails in his attempt to clinch. Rivera tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Conner feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Riveras jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

 That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Conner can't find room to land a body shot as Rivera controls the action.

Conner lands an uppercut. Rivera goes for a takedown attempt but Conner pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rivera feints and as Conner raises his hands in defense, Rivera changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rivera won't allow Conner to sweep him here.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Rivera is pushing down on Conner's leg trying to pass to half guard. Conner is fighting to maintain full guard but Rivera has managed to sneak the leg through. Conner is trying to escape back to his feet but Rivera uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Conner is trying to improve his position. Conner trying to remain calm as Rivera controls from the top position. Rivera trying to control the position but Conner is working away.
Rivera is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Conner is trying to escape and Rivera transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Conner is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rivera! Very nice indeed!
