Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arvin Mootoosamy (ranked 25444 p4p, 3577 weight class) and Hector Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arvin Mootoosamy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arvin Mootoosamy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Souza!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Souza scores with a takedown into Mootoosamy's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Souza in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Souza is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Let's hope that Souza has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Souza is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Souza should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Souza has clasped his hands together around Mootoosamy's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Souza has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Souza tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mootoosamy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hector Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Souza closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mootoosamy wants to get back to his feet.
Souza looks to land a strike but Mootoosamy avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Souza changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mootoosamy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Souza creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mootoosamy sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Souza breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Souza bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mootoosamy wants to get back to his feet but Souza is dominant here and he's now got Mootoosamy's back!

Souza is persistently looking for the submission but Mootoosamy is defending it well.

Even with his hooks in, Souza manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Souza is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Mootoosamy has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Hector Souza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mootoosamy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Souza is holding on to half guard well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Souza throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Souza throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Mootoosamy throwing a counter right hand but Souza manages to avoid it.

Souza feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Souza takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mootoosamy is working an open guard so Souza takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Hector Souza is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Souza shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mootoosamy's guard.

Well Souza has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
