Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Cornmier!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cornmier tries to keep at a distance but Alekseev has taken the fight into the clinch.
Alekseev blocking some punches.
Cornmier wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Alekseev obliges.

Cornmier's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Cornmier gets tackled into the cage by Alekseev. Alekseev maintains the clinch.
Alekseev lands a knee to the head.

It looks like David Cornmier has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alekseev lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Cornmier is trying to break free.
Alekseev is pushing Cornmier up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Cornmier takes an elbow to the forehead.
Alekseev connects with a nasty looking knee right to Cornmier's face.

That has opened up David Cornmier's cut even more.
Alekseev displaying some good clinch control by pressing Cornmier up against the cage.
Alekseev has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cornmier misses with a hook from the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cornmier has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Alekseev landing knees to the head.
Cornmier tries to break free but Alekseev pushes him back against the cage.
Alekseev really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Alekseev lands an elbow that stopped Cornmier in his tracks for a moment.

The cut above David Cornmier's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Cornmier is rocked!
Alekseev has Cornmier pressed against the cage. He pushes Cornmier back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Alekseev throws a beautiful elbow that sends Cornmier crashing to the floor! Alekseev piles on the pressure with more strikes! Cornmier is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ivan Alekseev!
