Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 195 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mountain Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sato Ngata!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ngata counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Mountain Rivera has been cut.
Rivera could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rivera darts in trying to clinch
and Ngata makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rivera tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ngata manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rivera is breathing heavily.
Ngata feints and as Rivera raises his hands in defense, Ngata changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rivera is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Ngata dives into side control.
Ngata scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Rivera is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Ngata can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sato Ngata!
