Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Hall (ranked 410 p4p, 548 weight class) and Rico Milka (ranked 40 p4p, 49 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 49 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Hall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rico Milka!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Milka comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Milka misses with a low kick.

Hall scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Hall is working for a kimura but Milka is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hall is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Milka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hall.
Hall with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hall is really struggling to control Milka but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hall is taking a breather. Milka says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Hall wants to work for an arm triangle but Milka is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hall looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Milka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hall paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Milka is looking to clinch but Hall is avoiding it.

Hall dives in and scores a takedown into Milka's guard.
Hall trying to control the position from guard on top but Milka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Milka wants to stand but Hall is controlling the position.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hall looking to sit in guard and control but Milka gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Milka wants to stand and escape but instead Hall has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That's time! Hall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hall shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Milka as he avoids it easily.
Richard Hall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hall shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Milka sprawls well. Milka wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hall gets slowly back to his feet.
Hall swats away the attempt to clinch by Milka.
Milka lands with a nice body kick.

Hall fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Milka, pushing him back against the cage.

Milka lands a body shot.
Hall fails to pull the fight into his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hall is looking to take this one to the mat.
Milka lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Hall.
Milka pushes Hall back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Milka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Milka throws a head kick that misses.
Hall shoots in for a takedown but Milka shows good takedown defense.

Milka lands a head shot.
Rico Milka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A solid leg kick lands there for Milka.

Milka closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Milka doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Milka gets through Hall's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Milka scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Milka swings away with an uppercut that misses.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Milka.
Hall tries to pull guard but Milka won't allow it.
Milka misses with a punch on the inside.

Milka escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hall manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Milka on his heels. He'll look to pass Milka's guard now, I'm sure.

Milka wriggles free and stands up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Milka connects with a high kick.
Milka lands a really nice looking cross but Hall seems unphased.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Milka lands with an uppercut that bounces Hall off the cage and back into range.

Hall is rocked!
Rico Milka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hall blocks a head kick by Milka.
Oh Hall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Milka moves into the clinch.
Milka tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Hall can't find room to land a body shot as Milka controls the action.
Hall drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Milka gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hall seems to have got his legs back now.
Hall tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Milka just stands there and leans against the cage.
Milka swings wildly with an uppercut but Hall uses good head movement to avoid it.

Milka is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hall is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Milka to the mat. Milka regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Milka is looking to stand back up but Hall counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Milka.

Hall seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Milka does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Milka wants to get back to his feet.
Milka is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Hall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Milka keeps working.

Hall wants to work for an arm triangle but Milka is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hall is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Milka has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hall is looking for a kimura but Milka is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hall to get the leverage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hall wants to free his trapped foot but Milka is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Rico Milka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Milka stuffs the takedown attempt from Hall. Hall gets slowly back to his feet.
Milka lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Milka fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Hall counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Milka!

Hall is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Milka has escaped the position, nice work there.
Milka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Milka wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hall is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Milka is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Milka is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hall asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Hall is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Milka will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Hall tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hall has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hall wants to take a breather but Milka manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Hall.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hall fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Milka lands a big head kick that sends Hall tumbling to the mat! Milka takes a step backwards and waves Hall back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Richard Hall has been cut.

and Hall counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Milka pushes Hall off and gets back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Richard Hall's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hall changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Milka tries to avoid it but Hall manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Milka to the ground. Milka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hall walks into a straight right hand from Milka.
Hall fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hall on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Milka. Milka obviously looking to wear him down.
Milka stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Milka wants it to stay on the feet.
Milka throws a counter combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard Hall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hall shoots in for a double leg but Milka sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Milka feints and then cracks Hall's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hall down.

Milka manages to break the clinch.
Hall dives in for a single leg takedown but Milka sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hall goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Milka throws a punch but it's blocked by Hall.

Hall blocking some punches.
Milka pushes Hall back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Hall fails to pull guard.
Hall is trying to drag Milka to the mat but Milka just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Hall.
Hall is working for takedown but Milka is calmly controlling the position for now.
Milka lands with a right to the head.
Milka lands a hook that snaps the head of Hall backwards.
Milka softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Milka lands with a short shot to the head.
Milka lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hall or not.
Hall tries to stall but Milka uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hall goes for a takedown attempt but Milka pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
Hall fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Milka misses with a head kick.
Milka has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hall is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Hall closes the distance and pushes Milka back into the cage.
A short body shot lands from Milka as the two fighters clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hall tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Milka just stands there and leans against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Milka.
Hall has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Milka is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hall pulls guard.
Hall has a closed guard, preventing Milka from standing up.
Hall seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Milka wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Hall's closed guard. He's half up but Hall has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Hall pivots and extends the arm, Milka falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hall! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 4, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Richard Hall!

Richard Hall decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
