Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wanderlei Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Niall Ferguson!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua looks to land a left hand but Ferguson moved out of range nicely.
Ferguson unleashes a big counter combination but Rua bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Rua sends Ferguson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Rua is motioning to the referee to let Ferguson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
It looks like Niall Ferguson has been cut.
Ferguson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Rua throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rua jabbing away but nothing is landing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rua throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rua drops Ferguson with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Ferguson looks back up at him and smiles so Rua waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Ferguson is rocked!
Rua lands a body shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rua. Ferguson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ferguson doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Ferguson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Ferguson looks winded!
Ferguson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rua.
It seemed like Ferguson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Rua fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ferguson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ferguson tries to get into range but Rua steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Ferguson! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Rua scores the big KO victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Wanderlei Rua!
Wanderlei Rua decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
