PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Butch Frewin (ranked 2615 p4p, 1599 weight class) and Tyrion Slamister (ranked 287 p4p, 187 weight class). Frewin's entrance music is Billy the Squid's Water Pistol by The Neptunas. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Butch Frewin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyrion Slamister!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slamister tries to score a power double leg takedown but Frewin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Slamister somewhat.
Frewin looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Slamister shoots in looking for a takedown but Frewin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Slamister's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Slamister looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Frewin's jab looks to have found its range, popping Slamister under the eye.
Slamister will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Butch Frewin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyrion Slamister.
Frewin misses with a head kick.
Slamister avoids the body shot from Frewin.
Slamister shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Frewin defends it nicely.
Slamister shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Frewin but Frewin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Frewin has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Kaptajnernes Træningscenter in the buildup to the fight.

Slamister shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Slamister is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Frewin!
Frewin is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slamister takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Slamister jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Frewin manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slamister tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Slamister has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Slamister wants to control but Frewin is keeping him busy.

Slamister thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Slamister tries to move to mount but Frewin blocks the move with his legs.

Slamister goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Frewin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Slamister but great work by Frewin.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slamister tries to buck Frewin off but Frewin is having none of it.
Slamister is still trying to improve position.
Slamister wants to control but Frewin postures up.

Frewin decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Frewin slaps away a takedown attempt from Slamister, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Frewin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Slamister misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A jab from Frewin does it's job there.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Frewin connects with a high kick.
Frewin looks to score with a jab to the body but Slamister is just out of range.

Frewin clinches.
Slamister has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Frewin after a bit of a struggle.
Slamister drops down looking for an ankle pick but Frewin pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Slamister shoots in looking for a takedown. Frewin tries to sprawl out of it but Slamister keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Frewin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Slamister takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Slamister gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Frewin.
Frewin leaves Slamister with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Slamister shoots in but Frewin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Frewin scores with a body shot.
A nice inside leg kick there by Frewin. That's going to slow Slamister down.
Slamister closes the distance and clinches up with Frewin, looking for a takedown. Slamister pushes Frewin against the cage but Frewin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Slamister shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Frewin as he jumps to the side.
Slamister looks winded!
Frewin getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Slamister shoots in for a takedown but Frewin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Frewin throws a leg kick which misses Slamister's front leg but catches the back leg as Slamister tries to avoid it.
Slamister closes this distance looking for a takedown but Frewin circles away.
Slamister misses with a takedown attempt - Frewin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Frewin rushes Slamister and presses him up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Frewin presses Slamister against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Frewin lands an uppercut.
Frewin lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Frewin scores with a nice hook to the head.
Slamister letting Frewin take a breather here.
Frewin lands a nice uppercut.
Frewin is pressed up against the cage. Slamister has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Frewin down to the mat. Frewin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Frewin connects with a crisp jab.
Slamister takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Frewin stuffs the takedown attempt from Slamister. Slamister gets slowly back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Slamister.
Frewin lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Slamister is rocked!
Butch Frewin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Slamister wants to stay close but Frewin steps back to make room for something. Slamister seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Frewin and Slamister drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Butch Frewin!
A less than humble Butch Frewin misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
