Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gustav Linnen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Linnen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Linnen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Griffin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Griffin appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Griffin circles away from the clinch attempt

and Griffin counters with a shoot takedown. Linnen fights it but they end up in guard.
Griffin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Griffin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Linnen tries to clinch up but Griffin circles away and keeps his distance.
It seemed like Griffin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Linnen tries to clinch but Griffin is having none of it.
Griffin changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Linnen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Linnen wants to clinch up but Griffin keeps it at a distance.

It seemed like Griffin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Griffin keeps the fight on the outside.
Griffin with the counter takedown but Linnen avoids it easily.
Gustav Linnen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Griffin circles away from the clinch attempt

and Griffin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Griffin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Linnen tries to kick Griffin off but Griffin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Griffin stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Griffin tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Linnen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Griffin keeps the fight on the outside.
Griffin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Linnen moves in looking to clinch but Griffin pushes him off.
Griffin drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Linnen defends it well.
Linnen tries to close the distance and clinch but Griffin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Linnen moves into the clinch.
Linnen misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Griffin.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

and Griffin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Linnen won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Griffin tries for a kimura but Linnen is defending well.
Griffin is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Linnen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Griffin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
A lull in the action here as Griffin stalls from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Griffin has hold of Linnen's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Linnen tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Griffin cranks the arm and Linnen screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Linnen, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Stephen Griffin!
