This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 37 wins and 24 losses; Francisco Ngannou! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 14 losses; Kent Dew! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Ngannou misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Dew shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ngannou as he avoids it easily. Dew has a takedown stuffed. Ngannou misses with a takedown attempt - Dew sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Ngannou shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dew defends it nicely. Dew shoots in but Ngannou avoids the takedown attempt easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dew fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ngannou avoids it really well and circles away. Ngannou half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Ngannou tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dew sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ngannou somewhat.

Ngannou is working away from the top position though. Dew felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Ngannou is pressing down on Dew's thigh, looking to free his foot. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ngannou is figuring out what he wants to do next.
