This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 25 wins and 28 losses; Julián Cicerón! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Cicerón closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alopodis did well to prevent Cicerón getting side control. Still in half guard, Cicerón seems content to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alopodis trying to hold on to Cicerón's head to control him but Cicerón postures up.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Alopodis is trying is best to control the position here. Cicerón wants to pass to mount but Alopodis is defending the position. Alopodis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Alopodis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cicerón has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Alopodis (0) vs (5) Cicerón The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Alopodis wants to hold on but Cicerón pushes him away. Cicerón fails to advance to Alopodis's back. Alopodis tries to lock up and control but Cicerón gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Alopodis is trying to escape the mount.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Alopodis wants to hold on but Cicerón pushes him away. Cicerón sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Alopodis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Alopodis has given up his back - I don�t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

 That's five minutes gone in the round. Cicerón is hanging on to Alopodis's back as he tries to escape.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Cicerón controlling the positon.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. My spies in HELLCADEMY inform me that Cicerón has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Alopodis is trying to break free.

Cicerón's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Alopodis breaks Cicerón's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Cicerón has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Alopodis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Cicerón seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Alopodis won't allow Cicerón to sweep him here. Alopodis stands and throws Cicerón's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Alopodis (5) vs (8) Cicerón Alopodis is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cicerón will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Alopodis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Alopodis is looking to take a break and control but Cicerón is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Cicerón struggling a bit here. Cicerón tries to improve position but can't.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Alopodis wants to control but Cicerón is keeping him busy. Cicerón tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alopodis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Alopodis taking a breather here. Cicerón tries to bench press Alopodis off him but Alopodis keeps the position. Alopodis moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Alopodis is looking to take a break and control but Cicerón is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Alopodis is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cicerón's shoulder. That is not cool. Alopodis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cicerón for as long as he can get away with. Cicerón isn't going anywhere.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Cicerón is trying to control Alopodis's posture but Alopodis avoids it. Cicerón is not content to let Alopodis control the position. Alopodis controlling the position from side mount. Alopodis trying to control the action but Cicerón is working from the bottom.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Alopodis working away. We've been hearing good reports from Alopodis's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Cicerón is not content to let Alopodis control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
