PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elisha Hopkins (ranked 5114 p4p, 3924 weight class) and Lebron Castro (ranked 442 p4p, 0 weight class). Hopkins has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Elisha Hopkins has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elisha Hopkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lebron Castro!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopkins looks to land a body kick but Castro moved away.
Hopkins tries to clinch up but Castro circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice body punch from Castro.
Hopkins is breathing heavily.
Sloppy strikes from Castro. Those never looked like landing.
Castro goes for a double leg but Hopkins avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hopkins continues to drive forward.
Nice takedown defense from Castro. No joy for Hopkins on that attempt.

Castro rushes Hopkins and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hopkins is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Castro is defending well.

Castro breaks the clinch.
Hopkins has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Castro dives in and grabs Hopkins's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hopkins pushes down on Castro's head and hops out.
Hopkins went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Hopkins gets caught napping as Castro dives in and scores a takedown. Hopkins manages to retain guard.
Hopkins is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Castro dives into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hopkins managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Castro.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Castro content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Castro's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Castro tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Castro has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Castro remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Castro decides to stand back up. Castro steps back and let's Hopkins get back to his feet.
Castro lands a head kick!
Castro fails to land with a series of punches.
Hopkins tries to counter with a takedown but Castro is quick to defend against it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Castro darts in and clinches Hopkins up against the cage.
Castro has Hopkins pressed against the cage.

Castro pulls guard successfully.
Castro wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
More stalling from Castro.

Castro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hopkins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hopkins is looking to stand up but Castro won't let him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Castro is on top in guard.

Hopkins preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Castro is stalling in the full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Castro throwing strikes from guard but Hopkins blocks nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lebron Castro dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Castro connects with a high kick.
Castro avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Oooooh!!! Castro has knocked Hopkins down with a huge combo! Castro steps away and waves a wobbly Hopkins back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Hopkins is rocked!
Hopkins gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Lebron Castro!
