Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Niaz (ranked 1122 p4p, 1075 weight class) and Rudy Beckwith (ranked 122 p4p, 118 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dick Niaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Rudy Beckwith!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beckwith has control of Niaz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Niaz regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Beckwith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Niaz is just riding it out for now. Beckwith eventually gives up the hold.

Niaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Beckwith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Niaz controls Beckwith momentarily but Beckwith frees himself.
Beckwith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Beckwith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Beckwith postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Niaz is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Beckwith, into his guard.


Niaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Niaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Beckwith has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Niaz is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Beckwith.
