Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cliff Dempsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinton Johnson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cliff Dempsey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinton Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
No luck for Dempsey with that takedown attempt.
Quinton Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dempsey decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dempsey wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.
Dempsey thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Johnson's head.
Johnson is trying to stand up here but Dempsey is controlling him well.

Dempsey is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Johnson defends it well.

Dempsey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Dempsey eventually gives up the hold.
Dempsey is breathing heavily.

Dempsey seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Johnson has recovered full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but Dempsey is having none of it.

Johnson keeping moving, preventing Dempsey from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dempsey has gone for a leg lock! Johnson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dempsey's guard.
Dempsey pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cliff Dempsey will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Dempsey drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dempsey prevents Johnson from getting back to his feet.
Johnson is wriggling around but Dempsey manages to pass to half guard.
Johnson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dempsey.

Dempsey is trying to control. Johnson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dempsey is working for a submission of some sort.

Dempsey stands up out of the half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson tries to bum rush Dempsey with a series of wild strikes but Dempsey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Johnson misses with an uppercut.
Johnson fails to land with a series of punches.
Dempsey dodges the punch combination from Johnson.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Dempsey scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Dempsey seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dempsey wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.

Dempsey is looking for a kimura here.
Dempsey stalling away here and it's allowed Johnson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cliff Dempsey dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Johnson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dempsey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily.
A combination from Johnson does no damage.
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dempsey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Quinton Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dempsey.
The referee asks Dempsey politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Dempsey prefers to stall for the moment though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnson tries to escape but Dempsey is in control.

Dempsey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dempsey throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dempsey is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johnson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Dempsey trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dempsey tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Johnson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cliff Dempsey.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dempsey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
