Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joao Vitor (ranked 4873 p4p, 3833 weight class) and Jay Gizdimidis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor comes to the cage accompanied by Till I Collapse. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joao Vitor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Gizdimidis!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gizdimidis instigates a clinch.
Gizdimidis pulls guard effortlessly.
Vitor definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Gizdimidis is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Vitor dives into side control.
Gizdimidis can't do much from the bottom here.

Vitor darts in looking for a takedown but Gizdimidis gets double underhooks and turns Vitor into the cage.
Vitor is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gizdimidis is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Vitor to the mat. Vitor regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Vitor scrambles and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vitor closes the distance and clinches up with Gizdimidis, looking for a takedown. Vitor pushes Gizdimidis against the cage but Gizdimidis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Vitor shoots in but no luck this time.

Gizdimidis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gizdimidis lands in his opponent's guard.

Vitor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gizdimidis moves away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vitor.
Gizdimidis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gizdimidis wants it to stay on the feet.

Gizdimidis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vitor.
Vitor shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Gizdimidis works to advance to full mount. Vitor defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gizdimidis is working an open guard so Vitor takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Gizdimidis clinches up with Vitor and pushes him back against the cage.
Vitor on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Gizdimidis is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Vitor is keeping busy.
Gizdimidis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gizdimidis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Vitor stays in close to Gizdimidis's body and controls the position.
Vitor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vitor accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jay Gizdimidis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gizdimidis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gizdimidis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joao Vitor.
