The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mendigo sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mendigo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Mendigo wants to stand up but Johnson is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson has gone for a leg lock! Mendigo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Johnson's guard.
Johnson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mendigo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mendigo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Oh but Johnson is tightening it up a little... Mendigo has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mendigo reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mendigo taps out! nice BJJ there by Johnson!
