The crowd seem to be enjoying Vandrel's choice of entrance music: Tarantula - Pendulum. Sam Wilkinson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilkinson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Vandrel wants to get back to his feet but Wilkinson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Wilkinson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vandrel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Vandrel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wilkinson manages to get himself to full guard.
Vandrel wants to stand but Wilkinson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Wilkinson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Wilkinson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wilkinson is keen to just control but Vandrel is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wilkinson is on top in guard.
Wilkinson wants to control from the top but Vandrel keeps moving.
Wilkinson postures up and lands a big shot to Vandrel's brow.
