Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Geoffrey Gamble (ranked 2897 p4p, 4293 weight class) and Sonosuke Kamada (ranked 232 p4p, 304 weight class). Geoffrey Gamble had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Geoffrey Gamble!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sonosuke Kamada!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamada throws a sloppy head kick and Gamble moves out of range easily.

Gamble changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kamada looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kamada is trying to get back to half guard.
Gamble controls the position from side control.

Gamble is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kamada knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gamble working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Gamble really is a fat lump.

Gamble is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kamada will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gamble has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gamble seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kamada for as long as he can get away with.
Kamada manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gamble's best efforts.

Kamada fakes the leg kick and cracks Gamble in the body.
Kamada misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kamada throws a head kick that misses.
Kamada feints and then cracks Gamble's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gamble down.
Kamada throws a sloppy head kick and Gamble moves out of range easily.

Gamble feints and as Kamada raises his hands in defense, Gamble changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gamble stays in close to Kamada's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kamada is trying to keep Gamble in close.

Gamble is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gamble is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kamada can do to turn this around?
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Gamble is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kamada's half guard.

Kamada has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gamble is working away from the top position though.
Well, if Gamble is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Gamble perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Gamble seems to be working for a kimura but Kamada defends the submission attempt.
Gamble seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Kamada trying to hold on to Gamble's head to control him but Gamble postures up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gamble content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kamada wants to improve his position but Gamble is controlling well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The referee asks Gamble politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gamble prefers to stall for the moment though.

Gamble is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Kamada looks calm but he's in trouble here. Gamble gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Kamada is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Gamble lets go of the hold and Kamada can pop his arm back in it's socket.
