PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gus Jackson (ranked 2046 p4p, 2099 weight class) and Jimar Kinkead (ranked 248 p4p, 256 weight class). Kinkead comes into a darkened arena with his song building. No Sunshine kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gus Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimar Kinkead!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kinkead closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Kinkead looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kinkead prevents Jackson from improving his position.
Still in half guard, Kinkead seems content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Kinkead might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Kinkead is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Jackson is looking to control Kinkead's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jackson avoid being mounted?
Jackson wants to improve his position but Kinkead is controlling well.

Kinkead is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jackson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kinkead.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Kinkead has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jackson throws a big counter combination but Kinkead scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kinkead has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though.
Jackson is keen to just control but Kinkead is a slippery customer.
Jackson is stalling here. Kinkead is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jackson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kinkead has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gus Jackson will probably get the nod.
That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Kinkead shoots for a takedown but Jackson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Kinkead manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jackson on his heels. He'll look to pass Jackson's guard now, I'm sure.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gus Jackson.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
