PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kona Kush (ranked 1982 p4p, 1835 weight class) and Jin Matsushima (ranked 142 p4p, 133 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jin Matsushima was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kona Kush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Jin Matsushima!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kush throws out a loose jab but Matsushima uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kush shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Matsushima's guard.
Matsushima really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kush. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Matsushima avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kush trying to control but Matsushima is working from the bottom.
Kush throws a big elbow that misses.
Kush wants to pass the guard but Matsushima is keeping the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kush has control of Matsushima's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Matsushima regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Kush misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Kush sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

We've been informed that Matsushima has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Kush cracks Matsushima with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Kush doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kush thows a left - swing and a miss!
Matsushima ducks under a wild hook from Kush.
Matsushima let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Kush waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Matsushima.
Matsushima takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Matsushima looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Matsushima fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Matsushima throws out a loose jab but Kush uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kush throws a predictable looking body shot
letting Matsushima counter with a right hand.
Kush takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Matsushima forces Kush back against the cage and clinches.
Kush tries to pull guard but Matsushima holds him up against the cage and eventually Kush drops back down to his feet.
Kush misses with a shot to the kidneys.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kona Kush dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Kush feints a jab promting Matsushima to slip. Kush then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Matsushima slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
The fighters circling - Kush throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kush scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Kush takes one to the side of the head.
Kush shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Matsushima counters by clinching up.
Matsushima gets through Kush's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Kush's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

and Matsushima cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Kona Kush has been cut.
Nice body punch from Kush.
Matsushima walks into a left hand.
Matsushima has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kush finds it's way round the side to connect with Matsushima's head.
A jab lands there for Matsushima.
Kush is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Matsushima can do to turn this around?

Kush is rocked!
Matsushima lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Oh Kush is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jin Matsushima is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kush. Matsushima does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kush finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Matsushima's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Kush falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
