Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Villa (ranked 5661 p4p, 25243 weight class) and Roman Vitali (ranked 485 p4p, 498 weight class). Vitali has chosen ULKENDER - Machenskii as his entrance music. Roman Vitali is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gustavo Villa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roman Vitali!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vitali moves into the clinch.

Vitali successfully pulls guard.
Villa definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Villa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Vitali is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Vitali perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Villa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Villa.
Vitali postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Villa looking for a sweep. Not yet Villa, not yet.
Vitali looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Villa trying to keep a closed guard but Vitali is proving a slippery customer.
Vitali must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Villa is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vitali is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Vitali gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Vitali is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Villa to keep the fight standing.
Villa wants to get back to striking at distance but Vitali won't allow it.

Villa has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Vitali uses from the top position.

Vitali really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Villa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Villa ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Villa no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vitali in particular looking to stall.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Villa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vitali is working away from the top position though.

Vitali tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Villa wants the takedown. Vitali is fighting it off but Villa persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Vitali's guard against the cage.
Villa wants to control from the top but Vitali keeps moving.
Villa won't allow Vitali to sweep him here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
